The pathetic racism spirit in this world has gotten me to discuss, with a sense of urgency everyday, expectation of prejudice and racism to my 5 year old grandson. It's sickening but necessary. God is so good to make sure that before we die, mankind has to face the truth within ourselves, before we tell God, "I didn't know"

I have never experienced the fear of being murdered due to racism and hate crimes. I understand and feel for the POC people who live with this fear in their daily lives. I can relate as a young woman, being female can be incredibly unsafe, and I do live with the fear of being harmed because I am a woman. I have been treated poorly based on my race but never to the point of fearing for my life. I think this video opened my mind to the struggles of POC, and I think it is important to have there conversations. I agree with Story, I don't understand how a person could do such an awful thing.

Oh my god look what we’re doing to this baby . Should be ashamed cops are cops they will hurt anyone that rubs them the wrong way ..... it doesn’t matter .. I speak from experience as a white woman being attacked by a 6’5 three hundred pound officer for crying. Crying bc I was just body slammed by soon to be ex... have that privilege... idk what white privileged is but I do know my family came with hiccups ... it’s a family obligation to do your best . Now I don’t get to just turn things off bc I’ve always be affected . We’re I grew up whites were very much attacked and targeted. My brother was attacked and beat with a brick by five black guys for being in their neighborhood. First day moving in black neighborhood was robbed at gun point. My mom worked so hard went to college but had a hard time keeping food on the table and was denied money food bc they thought she made enough to get by. Despite the bare cabinets being proof. Yet i would see other families in fur jackets brand new cars and still approved. I understand entirely how oppressed blacks feel that were hurt by white, bc I was oppressed by blacks and yet I work hard everyday to treat every person as their own person. I won’t kiss no ones ass though I’m sorry these ppl have done things they are ashamed of they say white guilt but I’d go easy on jumping from one farther corner to the other your losing the point. We need. Balance

Um...first, it's not a whole 'nuther' door; get your English straight. Second, EVERY parent with half a heart is afraid for EVERY kid going out EVERY day; don't need to be black, white or brown...it's just reality. Yes, there are some assumptions made for non-white kids living in white neighborhoods, but the same is for white kids going into non-white neighborhoods. I think it's wonderful these parents have a mixed family and are "color blind", but they really needed more black friends to begin with so they don't single out their children and scare them too much.

I can't talk about other people and I'm not from America. I just think it's a shame humans care so much about their skin color. "Blackness" as referred by many really means the sub culture of people who were decided belonged to the people with darker skin tones. History obviously is extremely important, since different skin color almost always indicates whether the American had heritage with slavery. However, I personally would like to see a future where people with whatever skin color can grow up in whatever culture, speaking whatever accent local to their living area, and not have to worry about others superimposing the idea of a person with a certain skin color should learn the culture most associated with that skin color, but it's their personal choice to whether or not research their family heritage. Or maybe in this future far away, people live in such peace that they don't look into their skin color to find company, forming groups for defense and unity. Saying to a parent that they must allow their children to keep "their culture from their kind of people" basically feels weird. In today's age, it seems necessary to allow them to socialize better with others in a society that cares about skin color, but on the other hand, it also feels cold, almost like the adoption family isn't "completely" welcoming them to their new family.

Like denzel washington says it all starts in the home but I don't think he meant indoctrination. my nephew is mixed race and I know he will not be instilled with this kind of racial indoctrination. disgusting.nothing here but racial virtue signalling.

I raised a biracial son in a tiny Pennsylvania town. I lived in constant fear. Went into that relationship with rose colored glasses firmly in place and my "friends" and neighbors quickly removed them for me. My son is now 27 years old and he tells me that he is rejected by both groups. White people say he's "too black" and black people say he's "too white." This younger generation is trying to get it right, and I really hope they do but honestly don't see it happening any time soon. Thanks to my son, I'm now more aware of the people around me and the bull that comes out of their mouths. I hear the blatant and the subtle racism now, and at least here in rural pa, it's still rampent.

I really like UCWABM videos, but as a transracial adoptee, this one bothered me a lot. It's such a trope to put the happy cross-cultural family on display and, oh, isn't this so nice and enlightened. We've all learned and grown, and there have been some hurdles, but love conquers all, regardless of race. If you REALLY want to know about how transracial adoption affects kids, you can't talk to kids; you need to talk to adult adoptees. You can't ask a child "do you wish your parents were black?" Especially in front of their f-ing parents. What the hell did you think she was gonna say? This is the only family they've ever known and they don't have any way to conceptualize it being any other way. Go talk to her in 20 or 30 years and THEN ask her that question. But nobody wants to hear those stories. Because they are complicated and messy and not always the happy endings people demand of transracial adoptees. You want a real and honest conversation, there are plenty of transracial adult adoptees who would be willing to talk to you. And perhaps you haven't thought about it, but transracial adoption stories are pretty much always told from the (White) parents' perspective (talking to their children when they are kids is, in fact, part of the parents' perspective and only provides the illusion of giving an adoptee perspective). Conversations like this are a continuation of the silencing of BIPOC perspectives.

I hate that biracial term because its function that's exactly what it means, in part heritage-wise, to be an African American, and to be black is to be of African descent. African is the blueprint to humanity. I identify as a black person with a multiethnic lineage or a black person with a non-black lineage. The biracial term is a face card and ultimately a false sense of security and superficial sense of superiority. You could very well have more black DNA as a "biracial" than someone who has two parents who identify as black. You don't have to be 100% of African descent to be black and that is why black people throughout the diaspora are so diverse.

Why do you think you never hear about "white on white" crime? Because they just classify that as normal crime. The term "black on black" was made by racist people to justify their mistreatment and abuse of black people and if you really cared for black people and black culture you wouldn't be using it.

Thank you, Emmanuel, for starting this 'Conversation.' Having now seen several of your videos, it occurs to me, a Roman Catholic white man concerned about what I seen happening within the Catholic Church, that something very similar is happening in our country: There are growing divisions in the Church that could well end in another 'Reformation' or revolt, with new 'sub-denominations' of the Catholic faith. The racial tension in the country is getting to the point that we seem to be approaching another 'civil war' (this one may be even less 'civil' than the last). From my perspective as a Catholic, there is no better time to be alive and Catholic because it is in times like these that great saints are made, that is it is an opportune time for us and for the Church to grow. In a like way, there is no better time to be an American of any color because times like these are our opportunity to fight for one another not physically, but conversationally, as you are doing - that is to say (in my rather awkward way, now see it in print), and to quote Charles Dickens, "These are the times that try men's souls!" If we handle this correctly, as you are doing, this is our opportunity for a tremendous growth spurt for the kind of unity this country was founded to produce among all comers. I hope this makes sense!!

Are you really going to go throughout your life saying offensive things and then just responding with "well, maybe they don't care? and I didn't say it to you, so don't speak up for others?!" A patriarchal relationship is incredibly sexist, and suppression of women should never be condoned, and it is 100% not something that is acceptable to suggest as a normal or healthy relationship. And even on the 0.00001% chance that the wife wants a patriarchal relationship, YOU have absolutely no right to assume that and say that to her husband, in front of her and her children. It's unbelievably offensive.

that was some beautiful shit that mom said I can’t remember her name but the fact that she openly said “because were white! we have that privilege we’ve never had to have those conversations” that’s acknowledging privilege and understanding that they were never taught to acknowledge those things they never had to grow up and understand everything that we currently know now that is apart of their privilege because they have nothing to worry about and I just found that beautiful because she was upfront with it. it wasn’t a lie. it wasn’t something she was trying to brag abt either, it was just simple fact. like that’s real. most ppl I feel like would’ve gotten defensive, confused, or lied abt it but she was straight up.

I’ve loved every UCWABM video thus far. It saddens me to see dislikes on these videos. I’m so grateful for men like Emmanuel Acho. Thank you brother for keeping the conversations going and helping birth change.

When I hear stories like these. I am so happy for living in Denmark. I am married to a nigarian and have 3 biracial children. I have never feared for my childrens lives as the parents here are telling about. My children can easily walk on the streets by themselves.
